Please note that Google Maps and GPS is incorrect: it will direct you to the back dumpster gate, which has no public entry.
A. From Pacific Coast Highway:
Go North on Newport Blvd., turn right on E. 18th Street. ZCOC is 1/2 block on the left. We are a few doors down from Eat Chow.
B. From the 55:
Go South until the 55 becomes Newport Blvd. At 19th Street (Mother’s Market), turn left, then immediately turn right at the stop sign onto Fullerton, go 3 blocks, turn right on 18th Street. ZCOC is one block down, on the right.
Two Common mix-ups:
If you are on West 18th Street (near David Field, the Downtown Aquatic Center, Dungan Library or the Westside Police Station), you will need to cross to the other side of Newport Boulevard to find East 18th Street. And since 18th Street jogs, if you are on Rochester, you will need to go north one more block. Please check the map.
Another problem is that some GPS systems direct people to the back public parking lot, rather than to the front gate of the building. If you are in the parking lot behind the Consignment Shop, please leave the parking lot (by car or on foot) toward E. 18th St., and then turn left at the sidewalk.
Free Parking:
1. There is convenient, free parking on the street for Zen Center programs on Tuesday evenings and Sundays.
2. There is free street parking on weekdays and Saturdays, with one hour limitation, though seldom enforced. There is no parking for street cleaning on the north side (our side of the street) from 9 am to 11 am on Wednesdays; and northside (across the street) from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursdays.
3. There is a free public lot across the street, right next to (directly alongside) the Chalk gym. There are approx. 20 spaces, with no restrictions.
4. There is a very large public lot next to us, behind Eat Chow. It is entered via Magnolia or Broadway. After parking, walk out of the lot alongside Eat Chow, but turn left.
Come in:
Please enter the building through the white gate on the left as you face the front of the building on E. 18th Street. Go through the patio and into the building. The gate is unlocked about 15 minutes before programs or appointments.
Common mix-up: there is no access through the back door or side gates.
